If you’ve come up against a skunk and have had the misfortune of being sprayed by it, first thing comes to mins is to call skunk removal services and  we can only imagine how vile your clothes must be smelling. Although getting rid of every bit of clothing affected by the skunk spray is the first thing that may have crossed your mind, you don’t really have to take that extreme step.

The easier way to do it of course is to buy a commercial product that promises to get that skunk smell off your clothing for good. However, these are usually expensive and may even not be readily available in your area, and we all know that when it comes to treating a skunk odor, the sooner you get to it the better.

Household ammonia, for one, works wonders. Soak your clothing completely in a mix of six parts of warm water and one part household ammonia for around half an hour.

Warning!

Make sure you do not use bleach in this mix at all, although it may seem like a good ingredient to wash off the foul odor. Ammonia and bleach come together to produce toxic fumes, so do not ever commit this blunder.

Other mixes you can use to treat your clothes include Hydrogen Peroxide and baking soda – one part each of both ingredients with six parts of water – and a white vinegar solution with one part vinegar and four parts water.

Try these DIY techniques in systematic fashion and you will surely rid your clothes of that nasty skunk spray smell.
